Chris Beyrer, M.D., MPH, is the inaugural Desmond M. Tutu professor in public health and human rights and professor at Johns Hopkins University. From 2014-16, he served as president at the International AIDS Society. Beyrer has extensive experience in conducting international collaborative research and has spent much of his career focusing on health and human rights.
In 2023, U.S. President Joe Biden will oversee PEPFAR’s 20th year — an opportunity to take stock of the initiative and to consider its future in a global health landscape marked by COVID-19.
