Nicoline de Haan is a senior researcher with more than 15 years of expertise in gender, rural livelihoods, agriculture, and natural resource management. She is presently the director of the CGIAR GENDER Impact Platform.
Countries must continue to pursue agreement on voluntary guidelines on Gender Equality and Women’s and Girls' Empowerment in the context of food security and nutrition to further fundamental rights for women and food security for all.
Thanks to agricultural innovations, we are making progress on gender equality in food systems. But, tough new questions on potential trade-offs and backlashes demand more investment into gender research.
