Violaine Mitchell oversees a team that works to empower national governments to sustainably finance and manage primary health care systems. Before joining the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation in 2010, Mitchell worked at GAVI, the Vaccine Alliance as the coordinator of a financing task force and was responsible for coordinating the early work on national financial sustainability planning and global innovative financing.
Since 2016, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control has built up its leadership, invested in IT, and created a robust implementation plan. When COVID-19 hit, Nigeria was far more prepared than most.
