Dr. Heather Alexander

Dr. Heather Alexander serves as the chief of the international laboratory branch in CDC’s Division of Global HIV and TB. In this role, Alexander leads approximately 70 staff collaborating with experts in CDC country offices, partner country governments, and other global and local stakeholders on laboratory capacity building and public health science, innovation, and program implementation in the areas of HIV serological and molecular diagnostics; treatment monitoring and surveillance; TB and advanced HIV disease testing systems; public health laboratory quality management systems; and diagnostic network optimization. Alexander holds a Ph.D. in Microbiology and Molecular Genetics from Emory University.
