Alexandra Bilak has almost 20 years of experience in the international nonprofit sector, focusing on research and policy development on displacement in the context of armed conflict, violence, disasters, and climate change. After a decade of working in Africa, she joined the Internal Displacement Monitoring Centre in Geneva as head of policy and research in 2014, becoming its director in August 2016.

She is also a Hauser Center postdoctoral fellow at Harvard University. As a consultant, she has specialized in monitoring & evaluation, strategic planning, and research on women’s rights and movements for a diverse range of NGOs and multilaterals, including Oxfam International, Oxfam Great Britain, UN Women and Women’s Learning Partnership.
