Holly Burkhalter

Holly J. Burkhalter serves as a special adviser at International Justice Mission, the world’s largest international anti-slavery organization. Formerly IJM’s vice president of government relations and advocacy, Holly led a grass-roots advocacy program to mobilize people around the country. She continues to build support for U.S. policies that will abolish modern-day slavery and other forms of violence against the world’s poorest. She speaks regularly on IJM’s behalf and has testified frequently before the U.S. Congress.

Homi Kharas is a senior fellow and deputy director for the Global Economy and Development program at the Brookings Institution. Formerly a World Bank chief economist, Kharas studies policies and trends influencing developing countries, including aid, the emergence of a middle class, the food crisis, global governance and the G-20. He served as lead author and executive secretary of the secretariat supporting the High Level Panel advising the U.N. Secretary General on the post-2015 agenda.

Howarth Bouis

Howarth Bouis is the founder and director of HarvestPlus, a global research and implementation program that develops and disseminates nutrient-rich food crops to reduce hidden hunger. Bouis has been advocating widely for improving nutrition through food based approaches since 1995 when he directed the CGIAR Micronutrients Project. He began his career at the International Food Policy Research Institute in 1982. Before focusing on biofortification, his research concentrated on understanding how economic factors affect food demand and nutrition outcomes, particularly in Asia. Prior to entering graduate school, he spent three years in the Philippines with Volunteers in Asia.

She was elected as president of the Union for International Cancer Control in 2018 — the largest cancer-fighting organization. In a testament to her outstanding leadership, she was the first Arab to be elected to such a prestigious global post.

Hubert de Milly is an agricultural engineer and holds a Ph.Dd in economics. He is a development practitioner who gradually moved from operational positions to strategic management. He has in-depth knowledge of the world of international assistance and today follows issues concerning the redefinition of official development assistance and loan concessionality for Agence Française de Développement, after having worked for over five years at the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development.
Hugh Bayley

Hugh Bayley

Hugh Bayley was a U.K. minister and member of Parliament for 23 years. As president of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, he joined Republican and Democrat members of Congress to lobby more than 100 congressional colleagues to rescind motions calling for the U.S. to disengage from Europe. After leaving Parliament, he was a commissioner of the U.K.’s Independent Commission for Aid Impact from 2019 to 2024.

At 14, Australian-born Hugh Evans spent the night in a Manila scavenger camp. Confronted with the harsh realities of his hosts’ lives, Evans pledged his life to eliminating extreme poverty. After co-founding the Oaktree Foundation in 2003 earning him the accolade Young Australian of the Year, Evans then worked in collaboration with the Australian and British governments and the United Nations to launch Global Citizen in 2008, orchestrating a chain of successful social media-driven campaigns and becoming a record-breaking action and advocacy force in the development world. In 2012, Evans co-founded the Global Citizen Festival, a free, ticketed concert requiring fans to perform anti-poverty actions in exchange for a chance to earn entry, inspiring millions to enter the war against global poverty and help the world realize the United Nations Global Goals for Sustainable Development.
