Julie Torode

Julie Torode is deputy CEO and director of advocacy and networks for the Union for International Cancer Control. Prior to joining UICC in 2008, Julie worked in the field of oncology through leading clinical trials work across phases 1-IV, with a particular focus on breast and gynaecologic cancer while also nurturing an ongoing interest in cancer prevention. Her focus is on working with the UICC membership and experts from across disciplines, to achieve the goal of reducing the global cancer burden.

As a freelance journalist and broadcast news producer based in Miami and Washington, Julienne contributes regularly to Devex. Her graduate studies in anthropology and journalism included research on youth development in Latin America and immigration in Spain.

Julienne Gage is a senior writer and editor at World Learning, a Washington-based nonprofit dedicated to international Exchange, education and development. She has a bachelor’s in peace studies from Whitworth University, a master’s degree from El País School of Journalism in Madrid with a specialization in immigration reporting and a master’s in cultural anthropology from Western Washington University focused on the arts for youth development in Cuba and postwar El Salvador.

Juliet Munro is director at FSD Africa, a regional specialist development agency that works to build and strengthen financial markets across sub-Saharan Africa and is funded by aid from the U.K. government. To date, her focus has been overseeing programs that cut across a variety of themes — from remittances, credit, and housing finance to community finance, gender, and financial integrity.

Juliette White is vice president global sustainability and safety, health, and environment at AstraZeneca. She has worked at the multinational biopharmaceutical company for over 30 years. In her role, Juliette has accountability for AstraZeneca’s flagship Ambition Carbon Zero program, and in addition, provides leadership to the company’s U.K. leadership team.

Junaid Ahmad

Junaid Ahmad is senior director for the water global practice of the World Bank Group. He is responsible for the bank’s program and portfolio covering water supply, irrigation, water resource management, and sanitation. He has worked extensively in Africa, South Asia and the Middle East focusing on public finance and service delivery reforms, emphasizing water in particular; constitutional reform and federalism; and city and local governance.

At Brigham Health and Harvard Medical School, he manages research projects that focus on surgical health services research, global health policy, and bioethical issues in medical innovations. He is also a 2018 New Voices Fellow at the Aspen Institute.
