Julia Burchell

Julia Burchell

As senior manager for mobile for development insights at the GSMA, Julia Burchell leads the GSMA National Dialogue initiative, which convenes mobile industry leadership and senior policymakers to identify how closer public-private collaboration at a national level can help progress towards the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. She has been with the GSMA for eight years, driving innovation projects that aim to achieve both commercial and social impact at scale. She specialised in gender and mobile before leading research into mobile value added services and industry partnerships. Julia has a strong background in corporate communications, having previously represented organisations across the telecommunications, utilities, accountancy and law industries.

Julia Davies is head of environmental sciences at the School of Animal, Rural and Environmental Sciences at Nottingham Trent University in the United Kingdom. Her interests are multidisciplinary and involve agriculture and the environment. She currently lectures in global food security.

Previously Julia has worked across digital platforms to develop locally relevant content for youth in India, and served as director of operations for Impact Network, designing and implementing an e-learning model in rural Zambia. Julia has a master’s degree from Teachers College of Columbia University and a bachelor’s degree from Hampshire College.
