Karen King is head of growth & development at CMC Affinity, a leading global medical communications agency and a division of McCann Health Medical Communications. Karen holds a Ph.D. in immuno-oncology from the Paterson Institute of Cancer Research, University of Manchester, U.K. She started out in academic research at the University of Oxford, before transitioning to CMC where she has worked for 20 years leading medical communications across a wide variety of therapy areas and products.

She is a 30-year veteran of the U.S. Treasury Department, where she headed up several offices, including the Office of Multilateral Development. Before leaving federal service, Karen served as acting executive director of the World Bank.

Prior to this, Karen spent more than 10 years within the U.N. system, including various roles at UNDP, the ILO and the Foundation for the Global Compact.

She has also worked at ECOSOC exclusively on the Partnership Forum and related programs linked to the Post 2015 Agenda. Prior to this she was the senior communications consultant for UNDP's Business Call to Action.
