Louisa Gosling is a program manager for principles at WaterAid U.K. She is responsible for mainstreaming WaterAid’s principles on equity, inclusion and rights into its WASH programs. She has worked in international development for over 20 years, and joined WaterAid in 2008. Her work promotes awareness of access to WASH in realizing the rights of marginalized people. She works with practitioners to develop inclusive and rights-based approaches to overcome discrimination and exclusion.

She served as assistant director-general of food and agriculture for the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations in Rome, conducted fieldwork in over 50 developing countries, served on the supervisory board of Rabobank, served on the board of Unilever, and is a documentary-maker and published author.

She is a member of the World Economic Forum’s technology and social justice advisory council. Prior to ADP, Louise consulted within Accenture’s supply chain practice across several industries.

Louise’s career in the pharmaceutical business start over 22 years ago with a scientific role in a small biotechnology firm. From there, she moved into medical communications at McCann Health, where she now provides scientific leadership at Complete HealthVizion across a wide variety of therapeutic areas, life-cycle stages, and competitive settings. She holds a Ph.D. in chemistry with medicinal chemistry from the University of Edinburgh, U.K.

Louise Shaxson

Louise Shaxson is a research fellow in the Overseas Development Institute’s RAPID program. She initially trained as an agricultural economist, but her work now focuses on improving public sector policy and strategy within the broad framework of evidence-based policymaking. Over the past 10 years she has worked with policymakers in line ministries in the U.K. and developing countries, helping them make more effective use of evidence and embedding an evidence-informed approach throughout their organizations.
