Maé Kurkjian

Maé Kurkjian is France senior policy and advocacy manager at ONE Campaign, an NGO campaigning to end extreme poverty and preventable diseases by 2030. A graduate of Sciences Po Lille and the University of Copenhagen, she has previously worked at the Lebanese Foundation for Permanent Civil Peace and has been in charge of public relations at Réseau Alpha, a NGO aiming at creating links between groups involved in teaching French and migrants. She has been advocating on behalf of ONE for seven years.

Maeghan Orton

Maeghan Orton supports product strategy for Medtronic LABS on developing digital health products to support climate-adaptive health care. She leads the Climate + Policy working group for the Global Digital Health Network, to prepare national health systems to leverage data for climate + health impacts. Prior to these, she worked with Google Health AI and WHO's digital health and innovation team. During her tenure as Africa regional director for Medic, she helped to design and deploy digital health programs to community health workers in 13 countries in Africa. She is pursuing a doctorate on climate change, AI, and global health with the University of Edinburgh.

Ma. Estrella Penunia is secretary general of the Asian Farmers’ Association, a regional alliance of national farmers' organizations. As a Filipino-Asian social development worker, Penunia spent her professional years in rural development, working with the farmers, fishers, and indigenous peoples' sectors, and in various capacities including as a community organizer and participatory action researcher.

Mafalda Duarte is the executive director of the Green Climate Fund. For decades, Mafalda has challenged business as usual to drive innovative and pioneering development and climate-responsive investments globally. Before her current role, Mafalda was CEO of the Climate Investment Funds, where she steered a multibillion-dollar portfolio of investments pushing the frontiers of clean energy, sustainable land management, and resilience across more than 70 middle and low-income countries. She holds degrees in international relations, economic policy management, and climate change.

She has successfully facilitated dozens of projects in low- and middle-income countries, working with agencies such as the Inter-American Development Bank, the World Bank, and UNDP. She is a strong advocate for the effective use of international development investments to promote trade, and support local economic development and governance.

Magdalena Wetzel is a public policy professional working at the intersection of healthy diets, noncommunicable disease prevention, and good governance. She is policy and public affairs manager at World Cancer Research Fund International, advocating for healthy diets and physical activity to prevent cancer and other diet-related diseases. She previously worked at the United Nations Development Programme and has experience in Latin American legislative processes, as well as food and agriculture policy.
Magdy Martínez-Solimán

Magdy Martínez-Solimán

Magdy Martínez-Solimán is assistant secretary-general of the U.N. and assistant administrator of the U.N. Development Program, where he leads the Bureau for Policy and Program Support. He was U.N. resident coordinator in Mexico, executive director of the U.N. Democracy Fund and UNDP’s global governance practice manager. He has been working for the United Nations for 18 years in Senegal, Bangladesh, Burundi and Togo, and has previously held senior responsibilities in the Spanish government. He is a lawyer by training.
