Mesfin Teklu Tessema

Dr. Mesfin Teklu Tessema is the senior director of health at the International Rescue Committee. He has more than 24 years of experience in the areas of public health, nutrition, international development, and humanitarian affairs. He is IRC’s senior policy and programmatic leader in health and responsible for managing the health team, which delivers high-quality technical support to more than 40 IRC country offices and the emergency response team

He previously served as CEO of the Children’s Investment Fund Foundation. Earlier in his career, Michael was a director-general at the Department for International Development, and he was the U.K. prime minister’s special envoy for the Sustainable Development Goals.

Michael Anthony is the head of microinsurance and food security at Allianz Reinsurance, where he works on implementing agricultural insurance schemes to protect small-holder farmers against financial risks brought about by natural catastrophes. He joined Allianz in 2002 as corporate affairs spokesperson and then as climate change adviser. Previously a journalist in Tel Aviv and Berlin, Anthony founded and was managing director of the journalists.network institute in Berlin.

Michael W. Beck is the lead marine scientist for The Nature Conservancy. He is also a research associate at the Institute for Marine Science and has an adjunct appointment in the Department of Ocean Sciences at the University of California, Santa Cruz. Beck serves on an advisory committee of the National Academy of Sciences (marine hydrokinetic energy) and on NOAA’s Science Advisory Board (ecosystem science and management work group).
Michael Berkowitz

Michael Berkowitz joined the Rockefeller Foundation in August 2013 to shape and oversee the 100 Resilient Cities. Previously, he worked at Deutsche Bank, most recently as the deputy global head of Operational Risk Management (ORM). In that capacity he oversaw the firm’s OR capital planning efforts, served as a primary regulatory contact and connected the myriad operational risk management efforts group-wide.

Michael Bzdak

As executive director of Global Community Impact at Johnson & Johnson, Michael Bzdak manages the corporation’s strategy for strengthening the health care workforce and leads efforts around program evaluation. He also manages the corporation’s employee efforts and philanthropic support for K-12 education, including a signature school-to-career program. Michael has been an employee of Johnson & Johnson since 1990. He earned a bachelor’s degree from Virginia Commonwealth University and master’s and doctoral degrees from Rutgers University. Michael is now a lecturer in the School of Communication and Information Studies at Rutgers University and an adjunct faculty member at New York University

During his long career at the bank he initiated several safeguard policies and published widely on development issues.
