Ann M. Starrs is president and CEO of the Guttmacher Institute. A widely recognized expert in reproductive and maternal health, she has authored and co-authored numerous papers and commentaries on global health policy issues during her nearly 30 years in the field. She is also an influential advocate for the health and rights of women and adolescent girls worldwide.

Ann Tutwiler is director general of Bioversity International, where she helps forge effective partnerships and oversees the organization's strategic priorities and research agenda. With almost 30 years of experience in agricultural policy and development, Tutwiler previously worked for the U.S. Department of Agriculture and the Flora Hewlett Foundation.
Anna Bjerde

Anna Bjerde

Anna Bjerde is the World Bank’s managing director of operations, overseeing projects in over 130 countries focused on poverty reduction, equitable growth, human development, and climate change, among other key priorities. Prior to this, she served as vice president for Europe and Central Asia, leading the institution’s efforts to steer the region through a series of overlapping global shocks, including the COVID-19 pandemic and the World Bank’s support to Ukraine. An experienced leader with recognized expertise in sustainable infrastructure, she has a strong record of delivering impactful programs across sectors and regions, including Africa and the Middle East.

Anna Brown

Anna Brown is a senior associate director at The Rockefeller Foundation, where she manages the Asian Cities Climate Change Resilience Network from her base in Bangkok. She previously worked with the MIT-USGS Science Impact Collaborative. At the Quaker United Nations Office, she led the organization's engagement with the U.N. Commission on Sustainable Development and guided work on water and conflict. Brown earned her bachelor's degree in environmental studies from Brown University and her master's in city planning from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Anna Cabanes

Anna Cabanes

Anna Cabanes is a cancer epidemiologist and nonprofit executive with over 20 years of experience in cancer research, epidemiology, health systems strengthening, community mobilization, and evidence-based advocacy. She is currently adviser at Global Focus on Cancer. Before GFC, she worked with the nonprofit Susan G. Komen, directing community health both in the U.S. and abroad. Prior to that, she held positions in cancer research at Georgetown University and in cancer surveillance at Centro Nacional de Epidemiologia in Spain.
Anna Dirksen

Anna Dirksen

Anna is a strategic communications consultant working with a variety of health and environment organizations. Previously, she led the communications and outreach strategy at the U.N. University Institute for the Advanced Study of Sustainability, with a focus on education for sustainable development. She has also worked as deputy director of communications for the global health organization PSI in Washington, D.C., with the U.N. Department of Peacekeeping Operations in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, at the U.N. Secretariat in New York, and in Rwanda with a global health not-for-profit. She earned her M.S. degree from Columbia University's Graduate School of Journalism and began her career as a television host, reporter and producer in Canada.

Anna Gawel is the Managing Editor of Devex. She previously worked as the managing editor of The Washington Diplomat, the flagship publication of D.C.’s diplomatic community. She’s had hundreds of articles published on world affairs, U.S. foreign policy, politics, security, trade, travel and the arts on topics ranging from the impact of State Department budget cuts to Caribbean efforts to fight climate change. She was also a broadcast producer and digital editor at WTOP News and host of the Global 360 podcast. She holds a journalism degree from the University of Maryland in College Park.

Anna Hakobyan

Anna Hakobyan is the chief impact officer and executive director for nutrition at the Children’s Investment Fund Foundation. Before joining CIFF in 2009, Anna led the learning and evaluation function at Y Care International, working on programs in Africa, Asia, and Latin America. Before this, Anna was a senior policy and research coordinator at Transparency International, where she developed and managed an evidence-based advisory desk for governments and multilateral agencies on good governance and transparency. In the early years of her career, Anna worked at the World Bank and civil society organizations.

Anna James

Anna James is an international development practitioner and writer based in the U.S. Pacific Northwest. Her work centers on the themes of gender integration, social inclusion, and resilience. Anna has 10 years of experience in international development, ranging from Peace Corps service in Morocco through consulting on gender and youth programs worldwide. After earning a M.A. in global human development from Georgetown University, she now applies her skills and experience to poverty alleviation domestically and internationally.

Anna Lappé is the executive director of the Global Alliance for the Future of Food, a strategic alliance of philanthropic foundations working for food system transformation around the world. The alliance works for a transition to food systems grounded in the principles of equity, diversity, inclusion, interconnectedness, health, renewability, and resilience.
