Dr. Richard Gakuba is an international digital health/e-health consultant who has been awarded the Holly Ladd mHealth Pioneer Award for leadership in the use of mobile technologies to improve health outcomes by the mHealth Alliance in collaboration with FHI360 and the Rockefeller Foundation. He served as the national e-health coordinator for Rwanda’s Ministry of Health from 2005 to 2013, has a medical degree from the National University of Rwanda, and a master's degree in e-health from Brunel University in the United Kingdom.

Previously partnerships editor and an associate editor at Devex, Richard brings to bear 15 years of experience as an editor in institutional communications, public affairs and international development. Based in Barcelona, his development experience includes stints in the Dominican Republic, Argentina and Ecuador, as well as extensive work travel in Africa and Asia.

Richard Kambarangwe serves as communication and community engagement and advocacy adviser on violence against children survey at Tanzania Health Promotion Support. He is also a recent Fulbright Humphrey fellow alumnus from Emory University and a fellow at the division of Global HIV/TB, Atlanta, U.S. He is also a recent recipient of the U.S. Department of State alumni impact award grant on youth resilient actions on climate change and mental in Tanzania. Richard has over 10 years of experience in public health space programs, research, and policy.

More recently, he has held key advisory roles at regional and international levels; he is the Africa CDC champion, a board member of the Roll Back Malaria Partnership, a member of the Independent Advisory Panel of the World Health Organization regional director for Africa, and the UNITAID Advisory Panel.
