Basav Sen joined the Institute for Policy Studies as the climate justice project director in February 2017. His work focuses on climate solutions at the national, state, and local level that address racial, economic, gender, and other forms of inequality.

Basile Pissalidis

Basile “Laky” Pissalidis directs InterAction’s Security Unit. He previously served as the senior security advisor for the American Red Cross, and has worked for a variety of NGOs and U.N. agencies over the past 20 years serving in field missions in Bosnia, Pakistan, Indonesia and Haiti.

Basma Alawee

Basma Alawee is a member of the U.S. Refugee Advisory Board and the We Are All America national campaign director at National Partnership for New Americans. She is also an honorary delegate of the Refugee Congress.

Bea Perez is chief sustainability officer of the Coca-Cola Co. She is accountable for driving a global sustainability strategy focused on enhancing personal well-being, building strong communities and protecting the environment. Bea started at Coca-Cola as an associate brand manager in 1996 and was the North American chief marketing officer.
Beata Lisowska

Beata Lisowska

Beata Lisowska is a data scientist at Development Initiatives, working on the Joined-up Data Standards project. Beata’s work focuses on mapping and linking data standards. She also develops and maintains the joined-up data standards thesaurus. Beata finished her Ph.D. in metabolic modelling of microbial systems at the University of Bath in 2015. She holds an M.S. in bioinformatics from Imperial College London and a B.S. in biotechnology from Cardiff University.
Beatrice Montesi

Beatrice Montesi

Beatrice Montesi is an external relations associate at the Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition. She currently oversees the implementation of the #FutureFortified campaign on social media to raise awareness for food fortification programs. Prior to joining GAIN, Beatrice worked at the U.N. World Food Program in Geneva, where she helped communicate the important humanitarian role played by the agency in emergency contexts. Beatrice is an international affairs specialist with a passion for food and nutrition security, women’s empowerment and global health.

Becky Allen

Becky Allen is a research associate at the Council on Foreign Relations where her portfolio primarily focuses on women’s economic opportunity in emerging markets. She is a graduate of Tufts University, where she studied Middle Eastern Studies. She is conversant in French, Hebrew, and Arabic.
Becky Hatch

Becky Hatch

Becky Hatch is a senior policy adviser at Kivu International. She leads on Cancer Research UK’s tobacco control work in Sri Lanka and Nepal, and works on a range of other Kivu programs including in Egypt and Myanmar, on issues across education, health, and climate change. She spent 10 years in the U.K. Civil Service as a senior strategy adviser within the Cabinet Office and Department for Energy and Climate Change, and as head of performance at the Prime Minister’s implementation unit. She has also worked in local government, as head of policy and strategy in a London Borough. Earlier in her career, Hatch worked for Save the Children U.K. on global education, and at the think tank, the Institute for Public Policy Research.

Begoña Lasagabaster

Begoña Lasagabaster is acting head of U.N. Women's policy division, prior to which she was the chief of the leadership and governance section. With over 20 years of professional experience, she was a member of the Spanish parliament for 12 years and later on the European Parliament, serving on several of its committees. Lasagabaster has helped establish more than 150 laws in areas of women's rights, gender equality law, elimination of violence against women, international development and cooperation, justice, and economic and social rights.
Bekele Geleta

Bekele Geleta

Bekele Geleta has been the secretary-general of the International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies since July 2008. Bekele has held various positions within the Red Cross, from serving as secretary-general for the Ethiopian Red Cross to leading IFRC’s delegation in Southeast Asia. He was general manager of international operations at the Canadian Red Cross prior to his current appointment.
