Candidates for Next FAO Chief Named

Who will succeed Food and Agriculture Organization Director-General Jacques Diouf?

Six candidates are vying for the post. They include Franz Fischler of Austria, José Graziano da Silva of Brazil, Indroyono Soesilo of Indonesia, Mohammad Saeid Noori Naeini of Iran, Abdul Latif Rashid of Iraq, and Miguel Ángel Moratinos Cuyaubé of Spain.

The winner will be determined in an election during FAO’s 37th conference, which is due to take place from June 25 to July 2 in Rome.

The term of the next FAO chief will begin January 2012 and end July 2015.
