The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria has named Cees Klumper as chief risk officer, a newly created position tasked to design and implement risk management oversight.
The creation of the office and Klumper’s appointment are part of ongoing reforms to strengthen the Global Fund’s financial oversight and grant management capacity, General Manager Gabriel Jaramillo said.
Klumper will assume office April 16, 2012. He brings with him broad experience in the finance and risk management fields. He set up and currently heads the internal audit office of the Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunization, which he joined in 2009. He will continue in this position on a part-time basis while transitioning to the Global Fund.
Before joining GAVI, Klumper was vice president for internal control at a leading multinational company. He has also served as a partner at PricewaterhouseCoopers and at KPMG.
