The World Bank approved a grant worth USD6.16 million under the Global Environment Facility to support the Sino-Singapore Eco-City Project in Tianjin, China.
The eco-city, which is expected to be home to 350,000 people by 2020, is designed to become a model of energy efficiency alongside socio-economic progress. China and Singapore signed an agreement in November 2007 to collaborate on the project.
