The US is providing USD 110 million to support some 500 social and humanitarian programs in Colombia this year, focused on helping displaced people, strengthening of the justice system and alternative development, US ambassador William Wood said at the Bogota signing ceremony. Since 2000, Washington has released around USD 4 billion under the Plan Colombia initiative, including USD 716 million to social programs and promoting alternative livelihood for coca farmers. (AP)
