This year’s World Economic Forum Annual Meeting in Davos, Switzerland, was characterized by the need to translate talk into action. With the U.N. calling for a “decade of delivery” to achieve the SDGs by 2030, the gathering’s many high-profile attendees have faced increased pressure from civil society to commit — through funding, policy, or partnerships — to transformative and inclusive measures for change. In setting the agenda, WEF placed greater emphasis on elevating youth and indigenous voices and made urgent action on climate change a prominent focus.

Building off of our Davos 2020 coverage, Devex held a conference call to highlight the key discussions, announcements, and initiatives from the annual gathering and to explore what implications the meeting’s broad agenda has for the development sector.
