Newly appointed U.S. International Development Finance Corp. CEO Adam Boehler provides insights on what lies ahead for the newly founded agency, in conversation with Devex President and Editor-in-Chief Raj Kumar.
Boehler was appointed by the U.S. president and unanimously confirmed by Senate on Sept. 26, 2019. Prior to his confirmation, he led a team focusing on innovating the U.S. health care system within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
As the most significant change in the U.S. development landscape in more than 15 years, all eyes are on DFC and how it will deliver impact with a new set of tools and a stronger development mandate.
Hear directly from Boehler as he discusses how the agency will be different from Overseas Private Investment Corp., how it is working with other U.S. foreign aid agencies, and how collaboration with other international DFIs might look like in the future.
The conversation will also reveal more about DFC’s new Portfolio for Impact & Innovation, or PI2, an amplified initiative to finance early-stage, high-impact social enterprises with innovative solutions to challenges facing low- and middle-income countries.
With PI2, the agency aims to address the financing shortfall by leveraging DFC’s enhanced tools, resources, and flexibility to finance these ventures and deliver life-changing goods and services to those most in need. Watch the livestream for more.
