The Global Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Fund, which was established by the European Commission, will disburse a total of EUR22 million (USD29.4 million) for its first set of investments including small scale renewable energy projects in sub-Saharan and southern Africa as well as Asia. “The GEEREF is creating a finance platform to support the global fight against both climate change and poverty,” European Environment Commissioner Stavros Dimas said.
