The European Union adopted new sanctions against Iran June 17 to halt the country’s nuclear program. Iranian shipping and air cargo firms will be banned from operating in the bloc’s territory, while the assets of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps will be subject to freezes, the New York Times reports. The E.U. restrictions will be added to new sanctions imposed June 9 by the United Nations Security Council.
