The World Bank Group is making significant internal structural changes — bringing a variety of different divisions from its public and private sector arms together into centralized operations, according to an email President Ajay Banga sent to staff Wednesday that was obtained by Devex.

“These changes are about creating a culture of urgency, collaboration, quality and efficiency, allowing us to solve problems together at speed and achieve impact at scale,” Banga wrote in the email. “By breaking down silos, we will unlock resources, strengthen internal partnerships, learn more from each other, and ultimately deliver better results for our clients.”

Though many of these changes are under way, they will officially go live on Jan. 1. Staff were told to expect to hear more from senior leadership in the coming days, including about implementation plans, many of which are already in the process of being formulated.
