The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development hopes to finance 12-15 projects worth $100 million in Azerbaijan in 2011, according to the bank’s top official in the country.
In a May 13 statement obtained by the Azeri-Press Agency, Francis Delaey said the bank has yet to receive an official request for financing from the government so “it is too early at this stage to disclose specific amounts and dates.”
But Delaey indicated which projects the bank is likely to support, noting that there have been preliminary discussions on possible assistance for road rehabilitation, railway investment, and ship yard construction.
