The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria has challenged some sections in a Los Angeles Times article, where it was expressed that its activities – together with other Gates Foundation-funded programs – have led to mixed results in Africa’s societal health. “Imbalances will occur when making so much money available for certain health areas, especially during the first few years… . and the L.A. Times is right in pointing this out,” the Global Fund stated in its website. It added, however, that the paper jumped to “distorted and inaccurate conclusions.” But even as it struck down the argument in the article about how societal health was declining in Global Fund-aided countries, the fund itself did not offer data or figures that would support its stance.
