This year, Kiribati will receive more than twice the amount that the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria sent it in 2007. The agency will deliver USD2.3 million to finance tuberculosis and AIDS programs in the Pacific nation. “It’s very fitting that Kiribati was given a bigger share of the funding, since the two virus are the country?s top priority,” a government official said. Kiribati has the highest TB rate and is second in HIV/AIDS incidence in the Pacific. (Source: AIDS Funding To Kiribati Doubles/Pacific Magazine)
