German federal development enterprise GTZ aims to install 15,000 solar power systems in Ethiopia per month as part of an energy project tapping alternative power sources to electrify public facilities and households in off-grid areas and provide backup power in villages already under power coverage.
Addis Fortune reports that GTZ’s Access to Modern Energy Service Ethiopia has so far provided hydroelectricity to homes, schools and health facilities in Ethiopia’s Southern Nations, Nationalities and Peoples Regional State.
GTZ has been installing alternative energy sources in remote Ethopian villages for more than two years through German and Dutch funding and local manpower support.
