This week, several thousand public, private and nonprofit officials descend on Panama City for the Inter-American Development Bank’s annual meeting. They come to network, strike up partnerships and learn about business trends that will affect their work in Latin America and the Caribbean.
Devex will be on the ground to cover breaking news, interview aid and corporate officials, and bring you the insight and analysis you’ve come to expect from us.
But while some of us mingle in Panama, the networking elsewhere doesn’t stop. And here at Devex, we’re proud to announce that this month, we’ve welcomed the 500,000th member to the Devex community.
So today, half a million development professionals around the world network and get the latest business, career and breaking news, analysis and advice from Devex. We’re proud to do our part to make international development more efficient and effective.
Looking back at where we started 12 years ago as a student project at Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government, we wanted to take a moment to celebrate this important milestone. And it’s not so much about us, really. It’s about a global community that has found common ground to share ideas, learn from each other, and advance their business and career while doing good.
This week, that ground may be near the Panama Canal. Every day, it is on devex.com, where people from around 90 countries have formed the largest network of professionals working in international development.
We know you frequently visit us to stay connected to the industry (and to each other). But this year, we want to bring Devex to you. We want to visit your communities and celebrate the great work you do around the world.
We started the year off in Manila, where we honored 40 young development leaders under the age of 40, all working toward empowering their communities in the Philippines.
This week, we’re in Panama, where we’ll be asking development leaders the questions that matter to you and your work.
We’ll be back in Brussels in October to cover the European Development Days.
And then, we’ll be hosting a career and partnerships fair in Nairobi. It’ll be our first event of that magnitude on African soil, and we can’t wait to connect with our community there.
As we prepare these visits and events, and as we upgrade our website and services we provide, we’d like to hear from you. So please celebrate with us by sharing a story that connects you to Devex — of how you’ve visited one of our offices, found a job after attending our career fair, garnered new business after your writing appeared in our pages, or just know us from early on in our short history.
Feel free to drop a comment below, send a tweet to @devex, or stop by our Facebook page or our LinkedIn group and share your Devex story with us. You can even email us at firstname.lastname@example.org. We really want to hear from you. And we look forward to welcoming the one millionth Devex member in the not-so-distant future.
