Intersos has been operating in perilous countries such as Somalia and Sudan for more than two decades. What does it do to keep its workers safe and provide aid on the ground despite insecurity?
The NGO “completely” overhauled its security management by mainstreaming it within the organization, Intersos Secretary-General Marco Rotelli told Devex Editor Rolf Rosenkranz at the 2012 European Development Days. That means addressing individual security management at every level of the organization.
“The more you raise the level of responsibility, the more responsibility you have also in terms of security,” Rotelli explained.
Watch the conversation between Rosenkranz and Rotelli on how Intersos develops and updates its security and risk management strategy, part of a series of interviews we video-taped with global development leaders in October in Brussels, Belgium.
