On July 18, nearly 700 development professionals gathered at Penn Social for the 11th Devex International Development Happy Hour in Washington.

The Devex community — which comprises 500,000 individuals with experience in international development — gathered in Washington, D.C., to celebrate the professionals who work to help people around the globe have better, more productive lives.

The Devex annual happy hour has become a staple event for this community where professionals can loosen their ties, leave their CVs at home, and look forward to a fun night of casual networking, hors d’oeuvres, and drink specials with fellow development colleagues and friends.

This year’s happy hour featured a custom Devex photo station where participants had professional photos taken holding a whiteboard, which read “I’m a [insert job title]; I make development happen.” These photos are being featured on Facebook to demonstrate exactly what Devex is about: a community that works together to do good and do it well. From program assistants to executives, everyone in this community matters and helps to make development happen.
