IMF relieves Liberia's debt

The International Monetary Fund has agreed to cancel Liberia’s mounting debt, after it had secured the necessary funding pledged by member countries. “When these pledges amounting to more than $842 million, are formalized, a process will be followed for arrears clearance,” the IMF clarified in a statement. The cancellation of the country’s debt finally transpires following an impasse of more than a year. (Source: IMF agrees to cancel Liberia debt/Reuters)
