The Millennium Challenge Corporation, the agency managing the U.S. aid program called the Millennium Challenge Account, and Sao Tome and Principe signed a Memorandum of Understanding that would give the island nation USD8.6 million. The money is intended to enhance tax policy indicators and customs services, and upgrade registration procedures in order to encourage investments in the island nation. The MCA funding is the latest in a series of U.S. assistance, which includes the provision of technical aid in the country’s social development and defense sectors.
