Frederick Hof, a U.S. diplomat to the Middle East, visited Beirut Aug. 9 to meet with key Lebanese officials and tackle Lebanon’s role in promoting long-term peace in the Middle East. Though the exact agenda of the talks has not been specifically revealed, the meeting will likely delve on last week’s conflict between Lebanese and Israeli troops and the restoration of direct Palestinian-Israeli negotiation talks, according to The Daily Star.
