Manila, a global development hub? These young leaders explain why

By Devex Editor25 February 2013

Devex honored the Philippines’ new generation of development leaders last week at an event dubbed as Manila’s first “Oscars of development.”

Manila 40 Under 40 is the third in our global program that recognizes and honors international development professionals aged 40 and under in cities around the world. Hosted by Devex and Chevron, last week’s affair followed successful events in Washington, D.C., in 2010 and London in 2011.

But why the Philippines? Pete Troilo, director of Devex Manila, wrote a powerful op-ed illustrating why there is renewed optimism and public confidence over the country’s development prospects. In this video — one of the main highlights of last week’s celebration — watch a few of Manila’s young leaders explain why the country is on track to addressing its development challenges.
