Martin Mogwanja is New UNICEF Deputy Executive Director

United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has appointed Martin Mogwanja as deputy executive director of UNICEF, replacing Omar Abdi.

A Kenyan national, Mogwanja is currently UNICEF’s representative in Pakistan. He joined the U.N. agency in 1977 as an assistant project officer in Nairobi.
