The Millennium Challenge Corp. has completed on Sept. 17 its USD205 million compact with Honduras.
The compact was signed in June 2005 and targeted agricultural improvements including providing farmers with training and access to credit and building farm-to-market roads, as well as repairing Honduras’ primary national highway.
MCC’s investment in Honduras is seen to benefit more than 1.7 million people and raise incomes by USD240 million in the next two decades.
“What our partnership has achieved is extremely impressive. These results are a remarkable base, which, I am convinced, Honduras will continue to leverage for even greater poverty reduction and economic growth in the future,” said MCC chief Daniel Yohannes on Sept. 17 in Tegucigalpa, Honduras.
The compact with the Central American country was the first to be completed by MCC.
