Millennium Challenge Corporation managing director for infrastructure and the environment, Carol Hessler, underscored the importance of promoting infrastructure development in Africa. “Infrastructure is seen as critical in fighting poverty because it creates access to employment, markets, schools, health facilities, and local, regional and international trade,” said the MCC official. The agency, according to Hessler, is prepared to inject millions of dollars to boost the region’s infrastructure efforts.
