The Millennium Development Authority, the local unit in Ghana implementing the country’s compact with the Millennium Challenge Corporation, earmarked USD143 million to bolster that nation’s transportation sector. MiDA chief executive officer Martin Eson-Benjamin said the money will be used to link farming communities to urbanized areas, and enhance accessibility so as to avoid agricultural crop spoilage. Eson-Benjamin stressed that this fresh project seeks to avoid the failures of past agricultural initiatives in Ghana. “My team and our partners will definitely not perpetrate mistakes of the past. We shall not support the lack of commitment and mediocrity or support that uncaring attitude which makes our people very poor, despite all the donors and development partners bring to Ghana. We shall take up the Road projects and the provision of ferries and finish them on time and within acceptable international quality standards,” he remarked.
