More than 200 Save the Children International staff have signed a letter saying that they “have lost trust in our senior leadership team.”
The letter follows an internal announcement at Save the Children International that it is planning a restructuring, known as “Fit for the Future,” which will put more than 500 staff at risk of layoffs in the central and regional offices of SCI — which is a U.K. registered charity that acts as the hub of a movement with nonprofits in 30 countries, with an annual revenue of $2.5 billion and around 25,000 staff, making it one of the largest humanitarian organizations in the world.
Patrick Hayden, deputy CEO and chief strategy officer at Save the Children, said that the current plans would represent 15% fewer roles in its central and regional offices, and that those offices account for about 7% of the total Save the Children workforce.
