Drive Electric, a philanthropic campaign focused on decarbonizing transportation globally, is launching a new fund to help low- and middle-income countries transition away from combustion-based cars, vans, trucks, buses, and other vehicles.
The LEAP Fund — which stands for Leapfrogging to E-Mobility Acceleration Partnership — will provide grants to projects that are expanding access to clean transportation. The aim is to help emerging economies “leapfrog” over the entrenchment of fossil-fueled vehicles by leveraging new technologies and approaches for electric road vehicles.
Drive Electric, a coalition of more than 100 partners working in 65 countries housed at the ClimateWorks Foundation, has selected 10 organizations across Latin America, Africa, and Southeast Asia to receive grants totaling $1 million.
