The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the crown prince of Abu Dhabi, have committed USD50 million each in a partnership that would mobilize additional funds immunization programs in Pakistan and Afghanistan.
Of the total USD100 million, USD66 million will be donated to the Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunizations for the purchase and delivery of the five-in-one pentavalent vaccine and the introduction of new pneumococcal vaccines in Afghanistan, according to a GAVI news release.
UNICEF and the World Health Organization are also expected to benefit from partnership.
