Mariangela Zappia will be the new head of the European delegation to the U.N. organizations in Geneva. Her appointment was announced March 8 by EU foreign affairs chief Catherine Ashton.
Zappia is currently with the Italian mission to the U.N. organizations in Geneva and has held several positions within the Italian foreign ministry.
