Yang Hyong-sop, a high-ranking North Korean official, has confirmed that Kim Jong-un will succeed his father, Kim Jong-il, as leader of the communist country, the Associated Press Television News says according to Chosun Ilbo. Yang is the vice president of the country’s Parliament and a member of the ruling party, the Central Committee of the Worker’s Party of Korea. This is the first public confirmation of the younger Kim’s succession, the Associated Press Television notes.
