Oman’s Sultan Qaboos bin Said has promised to spend 1 billion rials ($2.6 billion) to meet the demands of protesters seeking jobs and demanding political reforms, Reuters reports, citing the country’s state television. The aid package was announced through a statement from the sultan’s office, which did not specify how the government intends to spend the money.
