    Opinion: Asia has a lead role to play in south-south climate initiatives

    Asia has the potential to influence global climate negotiations, adaptation funding, programming, and international cooperation through south-south collaboration. Here’s how.

    South-south cooperation, marked by collaborative efforts and resource sharing among nations in the global south, is now of paramount importance in addressing pressing environmental concerns. Asia has a leading role to play in shaping climate initiatives in the region and globally.

    The global south typically comprises economically emerging and low-income countries across Africa, Latin America, Asia, and Oceania. Within this context, Asia is pivotal in tackling both internal environmental challenges, such as mounting pollution and climate change effects, and in taking a leadership role in global climate action.

    Asia has the potential to influence global climate negotiations, adaptation funding, programming, and international cooperation through south-south collaboration. Here’s how.
