    Opinion: The world needs a radical new approach to respond to global risks

    Here are three transformative changes that can be adopted to revolutionize how humanity handles complex global risks.

    To protect humanity from escalating global threats, here is a three-part blueprint — centered on new leadership roles, reformed business practices, and transformed data systems — that world leaders can adopt at upcoming United Nations conferences to revolutionize how we handle complex challenges.

    In a world of interconnected risks, we’re ill-equipped to respond. Our systems aren’t built to handle today’s challenges. COVID-19 or the 2008 financial crisis are prime examples of how one event can disrupt the entire world, leading to unexpected long-term consequences.

    Now, we’re facing a polycrisis of climate impacts, biodiversity loss, ungoverned artificial intelligence, worsening geopolitical tensions, and nuclear risks — all converging and escalating.
