A long-time Concern Worldwide staff was one of the 10 people awarded by the Northern Ireland Assembly at an event on March 21.
Roberta Cooney, who is Concern’s medical coordinator, has been honored for her contribution to international development.
“These awards acknowledge exceptional individuals who have transformed the lives of people many thousands of miles away. Roberta’s years of work with Concern had a profound impact and that is something that collectively should be celebrated, and is an inspiration to all of us,” said Conall McDevitt, member of the legislative assembly.
Cooney has worked in Sierra Leone, Liberia, Somalia, Ethiopia, South Sudan, Angola, Rwanda and Haiti. She has been helping to raise awareness and funds for Concern Worldwide.
