More than 500 foundations, philanthropic organizations, individual donors, and philanthropy professionals have issued an open letter calling for an immediate cease-fire in Gaza and the safe release of all civilians taken hostage from Israel by Hamas as well as Palestinians “who have been unlawfully detained” by Israel.
The Arab Foundations Forum, Black Feminist Fund, Fund for Global Human Rights, Global Fund for Women, and Human Rights Funders Network are among the groups that signed the letter published Thursday, which also called for “safe, unimpeded passage” of humanitarian aid and humanitarian organizations into Gaza, where more than 9,000 Palestinians have been killed amid Israeli airstrikes prompted by Hamas’ incursion into Israel that killed 1,400 people.
All parties also should adhere to international humanitarian and human rights laws, according to the group.
