Peace talks between the Philippine government and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front are set to receive a boost after the European Union expressed its interest to join the international monitoring team assisting the peace negotiations. The two negotiating sides have asked the EU to head the humanitarian, rehabilitation and development component of the monitoring body. EU’s participation will be finalized after the Philippines and MILF agree on the talks’ terms of reference.
