The Postcode Lottery Green Challenge 2012 was established by the Dutch Postcode Lottery to encourage the development of new, innovative, creative and yet commercially viable products and services that contribute to an eco-friendly lifestyle, directly reduce greenhouse gas emissions and score highly on convenience, quality and design. An expert preliminary jury will assess the viability of the entries and announce the five to eight finalists on August 30, 2012. The finalists will present their ideas before an international jury of experts and an audience of invited guests on September 17 at the multimedia conference PICNIC ‘12 in Amsterdam, Netherlands. The winner(s) will be announced on September 23, 2012 in New York.

The Dutch Postcode Lottery was founded in 1989 to help create a fairer, greener world. It is the Netherlands’ biggest, most popular charitable lottery and supports 81 charity organizations, including UNICEF, WWF and Amnesty International. The lottery has contributed more than €5 billion ($6.3 billion) to its beneficiaries so far.

The prize money, a maximum amount of 700,000 euros will be awarded. The jury is allowed to divide the total amount between several winners or give it to just one recipient. The prize money will come from the DOEN Foundation.

Each participant must submit, via the website www.greenchallenge.info, a business plan for a product or service, as well as all other documents and information specified on the website.

The closing date and time for submission of entries is July 31, 2012. All entries must be in English. For more information, click here.
